Using yum command in Fedora


yum is a useful command for installing and uninstalling software packeges in Fedora. Here we introduce some common options in yum command.

1. List installed packages:
# yum list 'packages'

2. Search package details for the given string:
# yum search 'string'

3. Install packages on your system:
# yum install 'packages'
Or automatically install without prompt
# yum -y install 'packages'

4. Update packeges on your system:
# yum update 'packages'

5. Remove packages from your system:
# yum remove 'packages'

6. Reinstall packages:
# yum reinstall 'packages'

7. Display details about packages:
# yum info 'packages'
